Emery Mae Vignes

On the morning of Jan 29th, 2014, Colby called trying to sound very nonchalant, "Hi Mom, not to put you on HIGH alert or anything but...Doug thinks I may be in labor!  I've signed on to work from home but we are trying to decide what to do next.  I told Doug he could go ahead to work but to listen out for me, I will call him if I need to."  I'm thinking, "Dear God, please don't let Doug go to work just yet!"  He didn't!!!  They were very wise, Colby decided to sign off work for the day and they would go by their OB/GYN's office.  It was Wed, during office hours.  So when Dr. Saenger examined Colby, she informed them to go on to hospital.  She WAS in labor.

Meanwhile, I was not on "high alert", but...here's what my travel options looked like!

The Dothan, Panama City Beach, Birmingham and Atlanta highways and airports were closed!!!  Children/teachers stuck at school overnight, parents stranded on the highways unable to get to their children or home from work.  What a difference a night makes, God is good, I was able to book a flight out of Dothan thru Atlanta to San Antonio the very next morning.   Praise the Lord.  Cindy took me to the airport, the Atlanta flight was delayed a little, but I arrived in San Antonio, fairly close to on time.  Evie picked me up and took me straight to hospital!  The one little inconvenience, was my luggage arrived on a later flight.  Sweet Debbie and Dwayne left hospital to get us something to eat and picked up my luggage for me.  Blesssings!

Emery was born on January 29, 2014 at 7:02, she weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces and was 20.25 inches long!  Mom and baby doing great.  Proud Daddy and extended family!
She is absolutely beautiful!
She has Colby's hands!

Joyyyy!!!

and feet!

I was able to hold sweet Emery about 24 hours after she was born.

Celebrating our First!

I flew into SAT Thursday afternoon.  When I left PCB, the temperatures were in the 70's.  When I arrived in Texas around 4pm, the temperature was in the 40's and rapidly falling.  Wind, Ice and freezing temps were the forecast.  Brrrrrr!!!
Mary and Amanda drove to SAT on Thursday instead of Friday night, to beat the storm.  Evie had wanted me to help her with Carter on Friday, but because M & A arrived early, there was no need.  I did however get to run by and see all the "getting ready" in action.
Friday night, even Cory got in on the crafting!
This brings us to Saturday morning.  A pre~shower celebration was called for!
Amanda, Mary, Evie and Cory toasted a job well done, in advance!!!
Colby and I have been blessed with the sweetest of friends!  It's shower time!
the Invitation, the Guest page and shower favors!

Leave a note on a diaper!
Advice for Mom and Wishes for baby!
I scream, you scream, we all scream for Icecream!!!

Red Raider's and Auburn Tigers

Karen and her mom were the hit of the shower gifts,
with the "gag box"!  Too funny!!!
Also, they went way overboard with the gift giving!
It was great to get to visit!
Lisa also drove from the Woodlands.  After the shower,
Colby and I went out to eat at Paesano's, with Reed and Lisa.
One of my all time favorites, shrimp Paesano's!  Yummers!!!
and Carter got in on the Party!
He had just come home from his first outing with "the boys"!
Evie enjoying reading advice and wishes!
So smart, Evie recorded all gifts on guest list spread sheet.
When Thank You's are written, all info will be right there!
Hold everything, I think she found it!
This fabric has a dark slate grey background,
with the favorite color of pink and aqua in the print.
Soo Colby!!!
See the bird cage on the right corner of the dresser?
That's where all the headbands and bows belong!
On Wednesday night we spent a little time in the nursery organizing!
We found a fun way to temporarily hang the sonograms!!!
The rug!  There's that warm bright pink color again!
What should that color be called?  Hmmm...
Hmmm, what other fabrics will work:
grey with white polka dots
Pink with white polka dots
Little dots,  distorted dots, big dots???
On Sunday, Colby and Doug went to Austin for Callen's graduation from UT!
Lisa, Reed and I did a little "retail therapy" and lunch.
Im forgetting what all the day to day brought our way but we accomplished a good bit and had a great time doing so.  Tuesday night we enjoyed dinner with friends Sam and Cory.  On Wednesday afternoon, I was able to go visit Shari.  I love her and am so thankful that we were able to chat for a couple of hours.  Hugs to Shari and her family.  You are and always will be in my prayers!
I was unable to see Tracy and Melinda this trip but we will try again next time!
I'm so proud of my daughter and son in law, they are awesome people with a huge support system in place.  This little girl is going to be loved in a big way!  So excited!!!

Its all about Texture!

I had alot of fun scraplifting this page.
I loved this layout that I had seen on Pinterest.

They used all white, paper, embellishments, and letters.
The trick was to find lots of different textures.
So, I went thru my supplies and pulled everything white.

My first attempt at something so "White Flowers" looking!
Below is the almost finished page.

I wasn't pleased with the flower, nor the brad in the middle.
Also, wasn't to hyped with the ribbon.
Below we have the finished product after a little refining!

I'm pleased with the outcome!
Thanks Pinterest, that was really fun!!!
